Avid has announced its solutions have been selected by MediaCity Studios as part of an upgrade to its production infrastructure.
Formerly known as dock10, the Salford-based television production facility has deployed an end-to-end Avid production ecosystem, including Avid | Stream IO, aiming to drive workflow flexibility across ingest, editing and playout.
Aiming to support the management of large-scale, multi-camera productions, remote recording and editing, and allow seamless content ingest across a range of formats and platforms, MediaCity Studios now operates 44 channels of Avid | Stream IO, supporting AVC, XAVC, 1080p and UHD workflows.
Commenting, Jon Hatto, head of production technology at MediaCity Studios, said, “We needed a flexible solution that could support any of our customer needs while integrating easily into the workflows we use every day. Avid gave us a solution that worked out of the box and didn’t require heavy customisation or development work. What really gave us confidence was working closely with Avid’s product and solution teams and having visibility into the roadmap, so we knew it would continue to meet our requirements.”
The deployment expands MediaCity Studios’ existing Avid ecosystem, including MediaCentral, Avid NEXIS, MediaCentral | Cloud UX and Media Composer.
Martin Appleton, Avid’s senior product manager, said, “MediaCity Studios demonstrates how leading broadcasters and post production facilities are using Avid’s integrated platform to simplify complex productions and support faster delivery. Avid | Stream IO drops into the existing Avid ecosystem, providing MediaCity Studios with an end-to-end, future-ready production environment that enables its teams to create and deliver outstanding content more efficiently.”
