London welcomes more studio space

London North Studios is the latest in a long line of new studio complexes either to have recently opened or currently in development

Another new film and TV studio facility has opened in London, this time a 200,000 sq ft site in Mill Hill.

Purpose, which specialises in building flexible workspaces, has opened London North Studios.

The venue includes five different studios as well as 80,000+ sq. ft of production offices, workshops, maintenance bays with compressors, pits, paint shops and wracked storage rooms.

The space is already being used by Sky for a new production, and Purpose said it has already received enquiries from the streaming companies.

“We decided to launch London North Studios in response to the soaring demand for high-quality filming space close to central London – demand which is not currently being met,” said Purpose founder Dan Cohen.

“The new studios will also add new interest to this corner of the capital — creating cultural cachet and job opportunities.”

London North Studios is the latest in a long line of new studio complexes either to have recently opened or currently in development as the UK attempts to keep up with studio demand.
