Camden Film Quarter submits plan to build vertical studio

The submission marks a 'major step forward' in establishing a new creative campus in the capital

Yoo Capital has submitted detailed plans for its proposed Camden Film Quarter.

The move marks the next phase in the company’s plan to develop a 23-acre site in London’s Kentish Town with sound stages, post production suites, editing facilities and creative collaboration spaces.

As part of the Regis Road Area Guidance, the plans submitted to Camden Council aim to introduce a vertical studio model to London.

Enabling efficient stacking of production stages, the design maximises limited urban land while creating an inspiring environment for film, TV and digital production, said the company.

Designed by Camden-based architect SPPARC, the complex will be managed and operated by  Oxygen Studios, establishing London’s first purpose-built, film-focused urban neighbourhood. The plans include the provision of two film and television schools, the National Film and Television School and the London Screen Academy, enabling pathways into creative careers, added the company.

Commenting, Lloyd Lee, co-founder and managing partner of Yoo Capital, said, “Camden Film Quarter represents a bold new chapter for London’s creative industries—a place where storytelling, innovation, and community come together. As the screen sector evolves, London needs infrastructure that matches its creative ambition.

“Located in the heart of the city, Camden Film Quarter reimagines what a modern studio can be—an open, connected neighbourhood built for collaboration, education, and opportunity. By uniting world-class studios, affordable homes, and public spaces, we’re creating a place that will inspire the next generation and keep London at the forefront of the global film and television economy.”

Trevor Morriss, principal at SPPARC, added, “Our vision is the product of long-term, close collaboration with Camden Council and a wide range of local stakeholders, where imagination and ambition have shaped a masterplan designed to nurture creativity and foster community, to demonstrate how culture, enterprise, and urban life can thrive together as a successful whole.  We look forward to continuing to work closely with the council and our partners to bring that vision to life.”
