Genetic Engineering 2 makes European debut

Quantel’s Genetic Engineering 2 made its European debut at IBC2014.

Quantel’s Genetic Engineering 2 made its European debut at IBC2014. GE2 is a shared workspace solution for multiple Pablo Rio and Pablo PA suites.

GE2 was used in combination with Pablo Rio at the 2014 FIFA World Cup for the fast-turnaround post production of 4K 60p promos which were delivered overnight to 30,000 Sony Stores around the world and also played over giant screens in fan parks in Brazil. GE2 enabled editing work to continue while 4K 60p was being recorded or while file deliverables were being created, reducing the post turnaround time by around four hours per game.

GE2 brings scheduling flexibility to the post production process, allowing high resolution jobs to be instantly switched or shared between suites. Up to four Pablo Rio systems can share the same GenePool storage, with guaranteed realtime performance on every connected system. GE2 offers 6K operation on multiple clients to cater for the new generation of ultra high resolution cameras.

“Post production houses need to be able to utilise all of their resources to the fullest possible extent to create the maximum amount of client-facing time from each and every system and person,” said Steve Owen, Quantel marketing director. “We developed Genetic Engineering 2 in response to this need, and it has already proven itself invaluable, saving post houses time and money while giving them the flexibility they need to be truly responsive to their clients’ needs.”
