Harris simplifies file-based quality control

Harris is introducing the next generation of its file-based quality control system QuiC. The software family is claimed to minimise the workload for video server operators in television stations, network facilities and new media distribution centres. The software tools analyse files ingested into video servers automatically, delivering fast results. Quality control standards are maintained through algorithms developed for the platform by content analysis specialist Digimetrics. There are three models in the new range: QuiC Pro for scalability to enterprise-level operations, QuiC Express for file analysis in less complex workflows, and QuiC View for visual presentation of digital content, with links to HTML reports. QuiC Pro and QuiC Express are designed to integrate quickly into a file-based infrastructure, with ready-to-go test templates and a web-based user interface. The user interface also gives access to the API, allowing links to asset management systems and other workflow components to be developed quickly. QuiC View offers reassurance to content owners seeing a fast and efficient way to closely inspect file-based assets. All QuiC software products support multiple media formats, a wide range of video and audio codecs, and many ancillary and metadata formats. “The increasing emphasis on file-based workflows in today’s demanding broadcast, production and media operations creates a need for straightforward quality control processes,” said Harris Morris, president of Harris Broadcast. “These new tools provide fast and actionable results without false positives, allowing our customers to more effectively share, distribute and monetise media assets across many workflows and delivery platforms.”
