GlobalM and scoopa announce strategic partnership

Llve broadcast-quality signals are sent directly from the GlobalM interface to scoopa and recorded as a file, enabling distribution for broadcast, editing or archiving

GlobalM has announced a strategic partnership with content distributor, scoopa, offering a complementary service for live transmission of recordings and file exchange.

The GlobalM software-defined video network (SDVN) platform provides global distribution of live signals via SRT or RIST protocols, while scoopa’s platform offers automated high speed distribution for file-based video content. Under the new agreement, live broadcast-quality signals are sent directly from the GlobalM interface to scoopa and recorded as a file, enabling distribution for broadcast, editing or archiving, said the company.

The collaboration aims to allow producers and rights holders to omit intermediate stages such as recording in OB trucks or control rooms, with the files able to be made available as soon as the live broadcast is finished. GlobalM also said processes such as preview videos, rights management and email notifications are automated. The recording function has already been made available to GlobalM users with a scoopa platform.

Paul Calleja, CEO, GlobalM, said: “We are excited to be working with scoopa on the development of disruptive solutions for the broadcast industry, in order to turn more and more advantages of the cloud into usable functions.”
