Vitec develops latest multi-codec 4K/multichannel openGear card encoder

The card is a 4K/Multichannel HD, HEVC, H.264 and MPEG-2 encoder with SDI and SMPTE-2110 input in an openGear card format

Vitec is launching a new broadcast quality openGear (OG) card encoder, the MGW Diamond+ OG, at NAB Show.

The card is a 4K/Multichannel HD, HEVC, H.264 and MPEG-2 encoder with SDI and SMPTE-2110 input in an openGear card format. According to the company, it is ideal for any contribution or point-to-point streaming application over IP within production studios and broadcast facilities.

Vitec suggests typical applications for the MGW Diamond+ OG include contribution; site-to-site primary distribution; remote production over constrained or unconstrained networks, as well as remote production.

The card features support for Ultra High Definition (UHD) and High Dynamic Range (HDR), HEVC, H.264 and MPEG-2 encoding, and can ingest and stream up to 4K60p from its 12G-SDI inputs and SMPTE 2110 input over 25Gbit SFP interface.

It also supports 4:2:2 10-bit, interlaced and progressive encoding, multichannel audio, as well as Zixi, SRT, RIST and Pro-MPEG transport protocol protection technology for reliable video and audio transmission over lossy networks, said Vitec.
