MoMe deploys Synamedia to power first Spanish-built CDN service for streaming

Powered by Synamedia's Fluid Edge CDN, the service marks a milestone for Spain's media industry

Spanish systems integrator MoMe has deployed Synamedia to power the country’s first streaming-optimised CDN.

MoMe utilised Synamedia’s Fluid EdgeCDN solution to deliver high-quality, low-latency video and enable control across the network. Architected with edge locations near to end users, the service aims to ensure high reliability, even over the last mile.

Designed to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements across Spain and the wider European market, MoMe’s CDN service aims to provide high performance, scalable delivery for broadcasters and OTT platforms without the cost and complexity of CDNs optimised for general internet traffic, said the company.

Monitoring across the entire network provides operators with quality of service visibility as well as enterprise-grade security and reliability, aligning with industry best practices and European security standards.

Deployed across eight data centres throughout the country, Fluid EdgeCDN is integrated directly into the streaming workflow and brings together Synamedia’s processing technologies including ingesting, encoding and packaging. MoMe’s service will be offered through its Argos Technology Services subsidiary, and the company will also offer multi-CDN delivery outside the territory including integration with Synamedia Quortex Switch.

Jaime Herbada, COO at MoMe, said, “Large CDNs designed for global, multi-purpose traffic are not optimised for streaming use cases and customers lose visibility of their content. By combining Synamedia’s private CDN technology with Spanish infrastructure and our deep technical expertise, we are launching a secure, robust and streaming-optimised CDNaaS that gives our customers clear visibility and actionable insights into quality of service and quality of experience. This is a major milestone for the Spanish media industry and a strong foundation for expansion across Europe.”

Elke Hungenaert, VP of product management, video network at Synamedia, added, “MoMe’s new CDN service demonstrates the growing demand for greater control, visibility and predictability in video delivery. By combining MoMe’s deep local market expertise with Synamedia’s private CDN technology, this is setting a new benchmark for video streaming focused CDN services. We anticipate this model to be replicated by partners in other countries.
