Synamedia has announced the launch of its Quortex Switch multi-CDN management tool.
The latest addition to the company’s Quortex series, the standalone solution supports any CDN from any provider, including Synamedia’s Fluid Edge private CDN. Aiming to simplify the design of multi-CDN systems, Quortex Switch dynamically routes end users to the best available content sources, eliminating the need for client-side code and enabling standards-based communication between the player and content steering server.
In what Synamedia said is an in industry first, the SaaS-based solution delivers optimised streaming costs, quality and reliability, and enhances viewer experiences through benefits such as mid-stream switching.
Quortex Switch enables configurable balancing rules for each audience segment, improving traffic management and reliability. Content providers can streamline delivery based on QoE metrics, said the company, segmenting viewers based on factors such as location, with dedicated CDNs assigned to certain audiences.
Synamendia’s team works in collaboration with organisations such as the DASH Industry Forum, the Streaming Video Technology Alliance and initiatives including the Common Access Tokens and Common Media Client Data, aiming to develop content steering global standards.
