Discovery has announced its new real-life streamer Discovery Plus will launch in the UK and Ireland next month.
The new service replaces the current streaming service dplay and will be available via subscription with an ad-funded catch-up service. It will be available to Sky Q customers for free for the first 12 months.
Discovery Plus will aggregate the broadcaster’s 13 linear UK channels from both pay-TV and free to air.
James Gibbons, EVP GM UK and Nordics, said: “We’ve just celebrated our best quarter ever for audience share, and buoyed by that success are excited to announce the launch of Discovery Plus, to fuel the rapidly evolving demand for consumers to stream content at a time and on a device of their choosing.”
