Latest Google Veo boosts AI vertical, 1080p video creation

The upgrade supports native vertical outputs to power mobile-first, short-form video creation

Google has announced a series of upgrades to its Veo AI model.

Aiming to widen creative possibilities for filmmakers and content creators, Veo 3.1 introduces a range of new features and upgraded capabilities.

Upscaling allows the generation of 1080p videos with improved resolution providing sharper, cleaner video for editing, said the company.

Designed to meet the needs of high-end productions and large screens, 4K enables the capture of rich textures and enhanced clarity.

In a first for the solution, ‘Ingredients to Video’ supports video generation in a native 9:16 aspect ratio, enabling the production of high-quality, full-screen vertical content with no cropping or content loss. The feature enables mobile-optimised outputs and professional-grade quality options allowing creators to produce content for YouTube Shorts or other platforms.

The updated features and more are launching in the Gemini app, YouTube, Flow, Google Vids, the Gemini API and Vertex AI.
