England’s dramatic penalty shoot-out win over Spain in the final of the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 is the most-watched TV moment of the year so far.

According to the BBC, a peak live audience of 12.2 million watched the Lionesses win back-to-back Women’s EURO titles across all BBC platforms.
The match peaked at 11.6 million on BBC One (59 per cent of all TV audiences) with an additional 4.2 million streams on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website and app.
Overall, the tournament was streamed 15.5 million times across BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website and app, said the broadcaster. The BBC’s TV coverage alone also reached 22.1 million viewers.
ITV, which shared the rights to the tournament, has yet to reveal its viewing figures.
