TVU Networks and vivo launch phone-sized broadcast solution

Dual SIMs and active Wi-Fi bands carry the stream in parallel over four live data paths

TVU Networks and vivo have announced the launch of a phone-sized broadcast device.

Featuring dual active SIMs and dual Wi-Fi bonded by TVU’s ISX algorithm, TVU Pocket blends vivo’s imaging hardware with TVU’s broadcast transmission and cloud production technology to enable reliable live transmission in a pocket-sized device.

Designed to meet live production requirements, TVU pocket feeds directly into TVU’s live production suite, with no app to download or rig to assemble. Both SIMs are used simultaneously on two independent 5G carrier networks. Dual active Wi-Fi bands provide four live data paths carrying the stream in parallel rather than failing over individually. The solution uses TVU’s Inverse StatMux Plus (ISX), the same transmission engine that powers the TVU One backpack transmitter, to fuse four paths into a single resilient stream.

TVU Pocket captures 4K to 480p at 25–60fps with manual ISO, shutter speed and exposure, and layers on split-screen output, background keying, URL/HTMLs/GPS overlays, one-tap social simulcast, video return, TVU Partyline intercom, TVU Anywhere remote control and Time Lock sync. External gear from Accsoon, DJI (including Osmo series) connects directly.

With every feed entering TVU’s cloud production ecosystem, the unit can be scaled to power a full remote production workflow, capturing news, sports and creator content.

Built on a custom vivo flagship, the solution features exclusive dual 5G aggregation, with ZEISS primes (14mm, 35mm, 85mm) covering the establishing shot, the interview and the distant subject. Optional ZEISS teleconverters reach 200mm and 400mm (full-frame equivalent), with reach and its stabilisation carrying into the live feed.

Paul Shen, CEO of TVU Networks, said, “TVU Pocket continues the mission we began with the world’s first cellular backpack: broadcast-grade production in every creator’s hands. ISX bonds dual 5G and dual Wi-Fi into connectivity you can trust anywhere.”

Tang Qingliang, vivo’s GM of imaging products, added, “We wanted our ZEISS imaging to perform in live broadcast, where there is no second take, so we brought it to TVU Pocket. Broadcasters anywhere now get the quality of a dedicated camera in one device.”
