Hireworks has announced the global expansion of its shared storage solution.
The production rental company’s Hireworks Connect solution aims to enable real-time collaboration for remote production teams within its proprietary shared storage environment. Configuring with Connect devices within its production environment, the Connect box also enable integration of Avid ISIS and NEXIS solutions, allowing on-location operatives to work with editors off-site.
Data is encrypted both at rest and in transit, with no storage outside a user’s own Connect device, said the company. TLS and Perfect Forward Secrecy (PFS) protects communications with each device authenticated with cryptographic certification. In the event of loss or theft, data is rendered inaccessible with native EXT4 encryption and user-defined passphrases. The platform provides up to 70 Terabytes of redundant story capacity per editor. Two ethernet connections enable both links to broadband routers and the provision of media to the edit suite.
Remote workflows are identical to NEXIS storage, with full bin locking, refresh and Project Sharing. The Connect box allows standalone working in the event of internet loss, with media already on the box syncing automatically upon service restoration. Conflict Protection ensures offline changes are recorded and logged, managing the risk of accidental deletion.
Hireworks Connect has been integrated into productions in the UK, USA, Spain, Italy, Bulgaria, Estonia and Finland by studios including Disney, HBO, Amazon Video, Netflix, Showtime, Apple TV and Warner Bros.
