Sony has announced Euro-TV has selected its solutions as part of an upgrade to its MPU-3 outside broadcast van.
Aiming to enhance its performance and flexibility when covering challenging, large-scale events including winter sports, the Wings for Life World Run in Vienna and the Erzbergrodeo enduro motorbike race, the Austrian live production company has deployed a Sony MLS-X1 live production switcher aboard the largest of its mobile production units. As part of the modernisation, a Sony ICP-X7000 series mixer control panel was also installed.
Combining the video, audio control signals, the MLS-X1 also allows external devices to be integrated via southbound communication protocols, unlocking advanced network messaging functions to improve the production process. The solution can be remotely controlled via the network with the Virtual Shot Box (VSB). Users are able to customise buttons and functions on the web-based interface, allowing tailoring to meet specific production requirements and expanding creative possibilities.
The deployment aims to enable complex tasks to be handled easily and efficiently. For example, the internal HDR I/O converter allows assessment of the HDR signal on a reference monitor, while an SDR feed is simultaneously available for older broadcast channels or parallel distribution, said Sony.
