Catalonia’s TV3 gets closer to the action with new 5G-powered remote production solutions

The broadcaster has integrated TVU Networks' RPS One’s 5G field units for a synchronised multi-camera remote production

Catalonian broadcaster TV3 is employing a new 5G-powered remote production workflow across both live news and sport.

The broadcaster has integrated TVU Networks’ RPS One’s 5G field units for a synchronised multi-camera remote production, and added TVU G-Link, an ultra-low latency IP-based distribution system, to its workflow.

TVU RPS One allows TV3 to produce multi-camera live content from the field using a single, lightweight, portable unit, said the company.

The technology supports up to four cameras, delivering real-time content with 0,3 second latency, while TVU’s ecosystem supports multiple output formats—including SDI, SRT, NDI, and RTMP.

TVU G-Link is a bi-directional point-to-point IP distribution system, enabling ultra-low latency feed exchange and monitoring between locations.

“The addition of TVU RPS One and G-Link to our production toolkit provides us with the flexibility and reliability we need to cover more stories, faster, and with higher quality,” said Albert Bargalló, MCR chief at 3Cat.

“These solutions allow us to get closer to the action and deliver real-time content that enhances our audience’s experience, whether they’re tuning in for breaking news or live sports.”
