What will you be speaking about at IBC2025?
The way people consume content has changed. We’re using our phones to watch content in the same way we would watch TV–but also while we watch TV. This generation has greater access to the world through their fingertips than any generation before them; they are not confined by the limitations of life offline. In addition, their mindset has shifted. They don’t want to be constrained by expectations for perfection, they care about building communities where they can just be themselves. Unfiltered, and live in the moment. The Snapchat generation–made up of Gen Z and millennials–is shaping culture, redefining communication, and reimagining how they connect with the world (and media companies).
Being relatable, open and less perfect should be a focus for media partners in the way they show up. People are moving away from the polished and perfect in favour of the more raw, real and fun, valuing authenticity and spotting an inauthentic partnership a mile away.
What do you hope the audience takes away from your session?
Opening to the camera, Snapchat is designed to be where anyone can easily create, watch, and share great content and engage with an audience. And people are watching content more than ever.
We have long-standing relationships with news publishers, broadcasters, digital publishers and creators, helping them use Snapchat effectively and engage with a difficult to reach audience. For instance, trusted news publishers are incredibly important to our platform as it helps inform and educate Snapchatters.

What do you view as the key technologies defining the industry at the moment?
Obviously AI is a big factor. Generative AI has been transformative for our camera and Lens experiences, empowering people to express themselves in a Snap.
In addition, AR has massive potential to change the way people view and interact with the real world. While our AR technology began as a playful tool for self-expression, it’s now transforming the way people experience the world and how businesses grow–including how we learn, shop, and even experience shared live events.
Specs, an ultra-powerful wearable computer integrated into a lightweight pair of glasses with see-through lenses, is coming next year. Specs understand the world around you with advanced machine learning, bring AI assistance into three-dimensional space, enable shared games and experiences with friends, and provide a flexible and powerful workstation for browsing, streaming, and more.
Why is IBC an important date in the media tech calendar?
Real relationships and meaningful connection is what Snap is about. IBC brings together a global community. Allowing visitors to engage with peers, get inspired, gain business insights and discover the latest.
Other than your own session, which panels are you looking forward to at the Conference?
Live sports at scale: Breaking new ground with emerging technology. The way fans experience, celebrate and watch sports has transformed, bringing them closer to the game, team and players they love.
Gen Z talks about and watches sports on Snapchat every day. Whether that’s celebrating or commiserating with their friends, following their favourite players and teams for a look behind the scenes, watching match highlights and moments from broadcasters, digital publishers, leagues, teams and players, playing with and sharing immersive AR experiences, or kitting out their bitmoji in their favourite team’s kit.
I am interested to hear the perspectives from these panellists.
Jorrit Erringa will be among the speakers at The Power of Collaboration: How strategic partnerships are transforming broadcasting on September 12th at 12.30pm.
