What will you be speaking about at IBC2025?
I’m really looking forward to speaking on the What’s next in Streaming? panel at IBC, focusing on how we use analytics, personalisation and emerging technologies to keep viewers engaged in our streaming platforms. I’ll be highlighting the ways in which OUTtv is continually working to understand what our viewers are looking for, and how we’re experimenting on ways to both retain our existing users and acquire new subscribers, including release cadences, different subscription offers, social media and email marketing–whilst continuing to prioritise creating unique content that keeps audiences coming back.
What do you hope the audience takes away from your session?
I hope that the audience will leave with a deeper understanding of emerging trends in streaming. Specifically, I’ll be highlighting three key trends that I hope will be helpful to IBC’s audience. The first is that established business models are gradually merging, so that subscription, ad-supported and direct sale—FAST/SVoD/TVoD—are all merging on a platform level. Secondly, I’d like to highlight the ways in which the improvements in AI dubbing and captioning are accelerating the global reach of content, and finally, that platform content providers still play an important role in curation, filtering and building community around content.

What do you view as the key technologies defining the industry at the moment?
It’s hard to ignore the developments around AI, as every type of software across the industry is improving at a rapid rate and more and more companies are integrating its services as part of their business model. Overall, these changes are affecting and defining many areas in television, bringing costs down from the beginning of production all the way through to delivery.
Why is IBC an important date in the media tech calendar?
IBC marks a fresh start after the summer break for many, as focus traditionally turns towards the new programming release season as we head into autumn. This makes it a great time to take the temperature of the industry, reflecting on the year so far and looking towards the ways in which we can innovate moving forward.
Other than your own session, which panels are you looking forward to at the Conference?
I am looking forward to the panel on The Power of Collaboration hosted by Marion Ranchet. I think she does a great job on her panels and this is an important topic that’s often on my mind. We need more collaborations!
Brad Danks will be among the speakers at What’s next in streaming? on September 13th at 12pm.
