HDMI goes the distance for Sommer

Technology suppliers and event technicians looking to send HDMI signals over long distances could benefit from a new extender system introduced by Germany’s Sommer Cable.

Technology suppliers and event technicians looking to send HDMI signals over long distances could benefit from a new extender system introduced by Germany’s Sommer Cable.

The HICON HD-BaseT allows a high-resolution HDMI with Ethernet signal and a 10/100 BaseT Ethernet signal plus an infrared remote controller signal to be transmitted over distances of up to 100m.

To make the extender as versatile as possible it is compatible with all essential HDMI standards including 1080p, 3D, 4K, ARC, HDCP, 7.1CH, Home Cinema TrueHD and DTS-HD.

The infrared function transmits the remote controller signals from the receiver to the transmitter, allowing any devices located there, such as Blu -ray players or set-top boxes, to be telecommanded.

The receiver features a built-in 2-port Ethernet switch that allows the user to connect up to two terminal devices and integrate them into the network. The set contains one transmitter, one receiver, two power supplies and one non-wireless infrared transmitter. An optional installation cable kit is also available.
