Advertising spend on VoD services grew six-fold in seven years, to £391 million in 2018, according to the Advertising Association.
The UK Advertising’s Digital Revolution report notes that ad expenditure for TV, radio, cinema and out of home “has remained fairly stable for the past 30 years.”
However, there has been growth for online and digital formats, with digital out of home expenditure increasing five-fold over seven years, to reach £603 million.
The report adds that in 2011, advertising delivered via mobile phone valued £203 million. By 2018, that figure had reached £6.9 billion and is forecast to exceed £10 billion by 2020, representing 38 per cent of all UK advertising spend.
