The Nordic region has reached 10 million streaming subscriptions thanks to an increase in “stacking”, according to new research by MediaVision.
The study found that number of Nordic households with at least one streaming service rose by 16 per cent over the past year. More than half (52 per cent) of Nordic households that use SVoDs subscribe to more than one service (i.e. stacking).
MediaVision attributed the increase in part to companies offering more types of service packages; in the last year, the number of telecom operators selling streaming services in the region along with traditional TV and broadband has doubled.
Marie Nilsson, MediaVision CEO, said: “We know that several new services will be released in Scandinavia in 2019 and 2020. This means that MediaVision predicts a continued strong market growth and that households will gradually spend more on streaming.”
