Apple wins first Emmy

Carpool Karaoke picks up Creative Emmy Award

Apple has won its first Emmy Award after Carpool Karaoke was named Outstanding Short Form Variety Series at the Creative Arts Emmys.

The win marks Apple’s first Emmy for original content, joining several technical/engineering Emmy Awards the company has won over the years, first in 2011 for developing FireWire and most recently in 2017 for Siri’s integration into Apple TV.

CBS picked up two awards for James Corden’s Next James Corden, which is only available on Snapchat.

Other winners included Sir David Attenborough who was named Outstanding Narrator for his work on Blue Planet II. Game of Thrones picked up a number of awards including Sound Mixing, while The Crown‘s awards included Outstanding Cinematography.

The Primetime Emmy Awards will be announced in Los Angeles on 17th September.
