SailGP has introduced a new mixed reality app SailGP RaceScape XR ahead of the Germany Sail Grand Prix this weekend (August 16-17).
Designed for the Apple Vision Pro, the app has been built on SailGP’s patented in-house broadcast graphics package LiveLine.
The technology provides fans with multi-screen viewing, including a world feed, UmpApp, and onboard team videos.
It also features AR Tabletop Racing, with real-time boat positioning and tactical data, alongside ghost boat competitors.
Users can instantly switch between onboard video in each of the boats in the F50 fleet as well as access real-time and historical race metrics for full replay of all the event action.
Matt Lord, director of technology and digital systems at SailGP said: “We are excited to launch RaceScape XR and this new XR experience for fans, ahead of the Germany Sail Grand Prix | Sassnitz this weekend. We’re continually pushing the boundaries on our digital fan experience and development of cutting edge technology to bring our Grand Prix events to life for our fans, and provide them with the ability to truly immerse themselves in the heart of the racing action.”
