wTVision’s graphic response to Spanish elections

wTVision developed four graphics projects for last week’s Spanish general elections, allowing TV Galicia, Aragón TV, La Sexta and 8TV to present customised programmes to their viewers. Technologies used included full screen graphics, tickers, virtual sets and augmented reality.

The TV Galicia project was based on augmented reality that, together with full-screen graphics and ticker, allowed the electoral results to be portrayed in several formats. The graphics showed through augmented reality were created using an Orad platform.

Aragón TV chose a virtual set for its electoral night, full-screen graphics and tickers. For this, wTVision integrated technology from Brainstorm to display the virtual scenery, Vizrt for the full-screen graphics and Inca to play the ticker. wTVision also provided graphic design services.

La Sexta and 8TV both used a complete graphics solution, presenting information, such as the elected members and the percentage obtained by each party, through on-air graphics, giving viewers a complete overview of the electoral results. These projects were developed using Orad.

La Sexta director, Antonio Ferreras, commented: “This is how we like to work, following the continual data stream and warming up the political scenario”. César González, La Sexta Information and Sports Director, added: “I don’t know how wTVision accomplishes this, but our data appeared faster than the official results displayed in the electoral commission’s website.”

A new feature introduced for these projects was the installation of a central data processing facility at wTVision’s headquarters, which assured system reliability and resulted in a flawless transmission.

All the projects used wTVision’s Elections CG software, a highly customizable program that handles all the prime functions required by electoral TV programmes.
