Giovanni Piccirilli has been appointed chief technology officer of RTL Nederland.
The position is a new one for RTL and the company said the appointment “guarantees technological innovation through further expansion of RTL’s customer focus, product quality and time-to-market.”
Piccirilli has previously held positions at Siemens, Liberty Global and Ziggo. He played a key role in the development of the Horizon home gateway and Horizon Go app. In 2015, he founded his own company, Pepper Technology.
Bert Habets, CEO RTL Nederlands, said: “In his international career experience, Giovanni has gained experience in both the B2B and B2C markets, with both market leaders and challengers. Exactly the intersections at which RTL is currently, so that makes him a fundamental addition to our management team.
“I am convinced that, with his innovative power and infectious enthusiasm, Giovanni will ensure that tech within RTL does not remain a separate division but integrates into our existing and new activities. Because in our competitive and fast moving playing field of new and international players, tech is a decisive success factor. “
Piccirilli added, “I am very honoured to take on the role of CTO from RTL Nederland. RTL’s leadership ambition in the digital world, in which consumers drive content consumption, inspires me greatly, precisely because technology plays a key role in this game. I am therefore very pleased to be part of the team that leads RTL to the next level. “
