Piksel has partnered with JungoTV to launch a new international content OTT service, powered by Piksel Digital Showcase. The service will deliver language-specific video content to expatriate and diaspora communities around the globe.
Dr Mehmet Oz, television personality, surgeon, media entrepreneur and co-founder of JungoTV, said: “In launching The Dr Oz Show around the globe, it was apparent to me that the market for international content was growing rapidly. The launch of JungoTV, the first premium service of its kind to serve a global multi-lingual community, will allow us to provide top quality programming from customers’ home countries and reconnect them with their culture and lifestyle.
“Piksel’s expertise has been instrumental in helping us build a secure plan for success, and with its heritage in the OTT market building video technology platforms, we will go to market with a best-of-breed multi-channel solution quickly,” Dr Oz continued.
The backbone of JungoTV’s OTT video service, Piksel Digital Showcase,is a cloud-based platform that delivers more content to more devices more quickly. Taking an OTT approach, Piksel Digital Showcase provides businesses like JungoTV with the stability, reliability, quality, and multiscreen device offerings that consumers expect from an online video offering.
George Chung, international content expert and CEO/co-founder of JungoTV, said: “Traditionally, multicultural communities have had limited access to content from their home country. When I was looking for a technology partner for my business, I did a comprehensive analysis of the OTT video platforms commercially available and Piksel Digital Showcase truly was best in breed. I am excited to join forces with Piksel on JungoTV to bring international content to underserved ethnic communities globally.”
Fabrice Hamaide, president at Piksel, commented: “The internet has changed the rulebook for businesses that want to capitalise on niche and international content. Online video gives local, language-specific content a whole new lease of life and spreads it to new audiences of people living outside their homeland. To harness the potential of this growing market, businesses need commercial and technological expertise to develop new digital revenue streams and Piksel Palette provides this. Our partnership with JungoTV and the future expansion of additional in-language content indicates the start of an exciting journey to help content owners, creators, and aggregators get more value out of their video assets across the world.”
JungoTV’s launch in autumn 2016 will make the new international content OTT service available throughout the USA and Canada with over 30,000 hours of premium on-demand programming targeting in-language communities of Arabic, Chinese, Filipino, Greek, Iranian, Italian, Spanish, Turkish, and Vietnamese speakers. It will be available on mobile platforms including iOS and Android, web, and most connected devices.
