My IBC: Andrew Starks, AIMS board member

In a new series of features, Future speaks to a selection of industry stakeholders about their typical IBC routines, and what they're looking forward to at this year's show. Here, it's the turn of Andrew Starks, AIMS board member and marketing work group chair\director of product management, Macnica Americas

What’s your typical IBC routine: what are you there to see/learn, who are you there to meet?

We come to IBC eager to reach people in the broadcast and live production world, especially those concerned with open standards and IP transport. We always have great interactions and gain at least three or four critical insights from the show, just by being around a wide variety of professional storytellers.

What are you most looking forward to at IBC 2022?

Being with people. Having meetings online is fine, but nothing beats being around real people.

Why is IBC important to you in a professional capacity, and how does the show compare to others on the calendar?

Each year, we work hard to create the open standards that help our industry grow. Then, IBC comes around and we get to show our work and learn from the people that use it. It’s a chance to breathe, to get feedback, see old friends, gain new insights, and to celebrate our work. And, as far as bringing our message to the professionals in our industry, IBC is where it is at.
