In partnership with TVBEurope, Akamai is delivering a series of free, insightful and innovative webinars to the broadcast industry.

The final webinar is titled ‘The Promise of the Cloud’ and will be available at 2pm on Wednesday 7 December.

Broadcasters, studios and online video companies have been using cloud services for many years, predominantly in areas such as video storage, transcoding and packaging for on-line delivery. In this webinar, Akamai will review the business rationale and benefits of using cloud technology for on-line media workflow processes and how well the technology has performed against the promise.

The demonstration will be presented by Akamai product line director for media services Shawn Michels. He will address:

What are the expected business benefits and returns that companies can expect when using cloud technology?
What are the various options available to customers and the pros and cons?
What are the challenges to working in the cloud and how will these impact the expected business benefits?
How can customers maximize the use of cloud services to achieve the business benefits?

With 15 years of product management experience in digital media, video and convergence, Michels has expertise related to each piece of the digital media value chain as well as the underlying economics and consumer trends driving the industry. In his current role at Akamai, he is responsible for driving the worldwide strategy for Akamai’s on demand video workflow products.
