Disguise launches portable version of Designer software

Disguise X1 aims to allow production teams to scale their visual workflows with on-the-go access to its Designer solution

Disguise has announced the launch of a portable version of its Designer solution.

Designed to allow creators to run 4K visuals from their own devices with no requirement for proprietary media servers, X1 provides on-the-go access to Designer software enabling production teams to pre-visualise, sequence and control headline shows around the world, said the company.

Users will be able to plug a licence key into their laptop, allowing access to the latest version of the solution. Disguise’s RenderStream protocol enables visuals to be imported into Designer using any real-time graphics tool such as Unreal Engine, Notch, TouchDesigner and Unity. X1 supports all major tracking and automation systems including Kinesys, Tait Navigator and PSN. APIs are available to allow further integrations, added Disguise.

Chief product and technology officer at Disguise, Raed Al Tikriti, commented, “In order to support the world’s biggest shows and installations, we have high-performance media servers powerful enough to seamlessly run visuals on LED walls over 4,000 square metres in size. But not everyone needs all that power — or has the space or budget for it. That’s why we decided to create X1. With X1, for the first time, anyone can harness the same powerful Designer tools used on the world’s biggest productions, all in a portable format that’s easier and more cost-effective to bring on tour or support smaller productions.”

A ready-to-use content pack features Notch and TouchDesigner effects created by Disguise’s in-house creative team and allows users to start straight away, with each look rendered as a high-quality video for playback and looping, aiming to provide flexibility in content delivery.

Content can be previewed on a 3D mini-replica of the environment and the Designer timeline feature enables users to schedule and edit all the visuals needed to run their production live. Redundancy capability includes built-in 1:1 fallover to ensure uninterrupted playback in critical live environments.

X1 supports all major tracking and automation systems, including Kinesys, Tait Navigator and PSN. APIs are available to allow further integrations. Users will have access to 24/7 Disguise support, added the company.
