Sky Italia could make Derby d’Italia free-to-air due to coronavirus

Match to be held "behind close doors" at the Allianz Stadium

Sky Italia is reportedly holding talks with Serie A over Sunday’s game between Juventus and Inter Milan due to fears surrounding the coronavirus in Northern Italy.

The match is likely to be held “behind close doors” at the Allianz Stadium in order to protect fans from the potential spread of the virus, according to La Stampa.

The broadcaster is therefore considering broadcasting the fixture on its free-to-air channel TV8, allowing fans to watch the Derby d’Italia without a Sky subscription.

Sky Italia is consulting with the league over the creation of a “free window” to make this possible.

Marzio Perrelli, Sky Italia executive vice president, said: “In such a unique situation where all citizens and businesses are required to make sacrifices, Sky would also be willing to make their own.”
