Netflix to open Berlin office

Streamer is expected to release more German-made content

Netflix is opening an office in Berlin to accommodate its growing slate of German content.

The company’s European headquarters are based in Amsterdam, along with offices in London and a newly opened production hub in Madrid. The French team are also expected to move to Paris.

A number of Netflix employees based in Amsterdam are believed to be relocating to Berlin, while additional jobs are due to be created at the new location. The move will take place in the autumn.

Netflix VP of international originals EMEA Kelly Luegenbiehl told DWDL.de: “Since our launch in the German market in 2014 we have been warmly welcomed by the creative community and we are happy to work with many great local talents in front of and behind the camera.

“Given our growing volume of German original content, now is the time to move even closer to this community so we can deepen our partnerships, and we are confident that a Netflix office in Berlin will help us to further integrate into Germany’s creative community and we look forward to developing even more exciting content over the next few years. ”

The third Netflix Original made in Germany, How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast), is launching at the end of May. Next year will also see the release of The Barbarians, Tribes of Europa, Biohackers, 1899 and Unorthodox.
