LinkedIn introduces live video streaming

Azure Media Services provides live streaming encoding technology

Microsoft is piloting a LinkedIn Live service, allowing users to live stream video content.

The live streaming encoding technology is provided by Azure Media Services, while Wirecast, Switcher Studio, Wowza Media Systems, Socialive and Brandlive will also support LinkedIn’s invite-only beta project.

LinkedIn director of product management Pete Davies said: “Video is the fastest growing format on our platform right now, and the one most likely to get people talking. Live has been the most requested feature.”

While Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Twitch also offer live video streaming services, LinkedIn hopes to carve its own niche based on its professional target audience.
