Dutch telecom operator KPN has announced it is to close its OTT service KPN Play next month.
The company said the closure is due to “disappointing demand”.
In a message to subscribers, KPN said: “In 2015, we introduced KPN Play as an innovative new service to the Dutch TV market. We have seen that market demand has proved to be insufficient for this new way of watching TV. That is why we have decided to discontinue this service.”
KPN Play launched in 2015 in response to the “changing viewing behaviour” of consumers. It offered live television via an iOS and Android app and web player and included 25 channels in HD.
