Austrian HDTV platform HD Austria has added eSports TV to its channel line-up.
The channel shows the major national and international tournaments of the Electronic Sports League (ESL) and other competitions 24 hours per day.
eSports TV is offered as an OTT service accessible by all subscribers of the HD Austria Kombi package using the HD Austria set-top-box or PVR, the smartphone/tablet app or web player.
Martijn van Hout, Director of HD Austria, said: “The future belongs to e-sport, the popularity of this sport is currently growing at a fast pace. For example, there are more people around the world who compete online with each other in multiplayer battlegames than live in Austria and Germany.
With eSportsTV, HD Austria wants to inspire the younger target group and to give all gaming fans in Austria the opportunity to experience the biggest tournaments of this sport on HDTV in the best picture and sound quality. “
The addition of eSports TV to HD Austria follows an agreement between the channel’s operator MTG and M7 Group announced in September 2016 to make eSports TV available across M7 Group’s TV platforms in Europe.
