Friend MTS has been selected by digital platform FITE TV to protect its coverage of the upcoming WBA and WBC title fight between Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin.

The boxing match will take place in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on 15th September and will air on a variety of pay-TV platforms.

Friend MTS will protect FITE’s content with a combination of global channel monitoring and take down services. It will scan the internet globally for streaming piracy, across illicit IPTV devices, mobile apps, websites and social media.

Michael Weber, COO at FITE said: "This rematch, after a draw in September 2017, will make a very compelling title fight, and we’ll be taking security very seriously to protect our content from piracy. We’ll be taking action during the event, capturing forensic information about pirate networks, and reserving the right to take legal action against any perpetrators of content theft.”

Neil Sharpe, director product marketing at Friend MTS added: "With large scale, live sporting events like pay-per-view boxing, it’s imperative to take action very quickly against streaming piracy to protect revenues. We’ll be monitoring the content worldwide for FITE TV and identifying any illegal redistribution within seconds.”
