Nvidia and EBU extend collaboration to strengthen sovereign cloud standards

The initiative aims to create a foundation to protect editorial independence, data sovereignty and national resilience across Europe

Aiming to build on the sovereign standards for European public service media announced last year, the EBU and Nvidia are extending their initiative to include sovereign cloud providers, open model developers and systems integrators.

The expanded initiative aims to turn its principles into deployable services, defining requirements and reference architectures for where workloads run, how data is governed, which models power services and how systems stay secure throughout their lifecycle.

Commenting, Annsofi Eriksson, chief technology officer, EBU, said, “These standards give EBU members a shared foundation to strengthen resilience, retain control and deliver accountable advanced services that sustain audience trust.”

Delphine Ernotte, CEO of France Télévisions and president of the EBU, added, “Sovereign cloud infrastructure and open models can help Europe’s public service media innovate while protecting data, editorial independence and cultural diversity.”
