Disney Plus announces European launch on 24th March

Additional Western Europe markets to follow in summer 2020

Disney Plus has set 24th March as the new launch date for Western Europe, and confirmed pricing at £5.99/€6.99 per month, or £59.99/€69.99 for an annual subscription.

The streaming service will launch in the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria and Switzerland on 24th March, with additional Western Europe markets (including Belgium, the Nordics and Portugal) to follow in summer 2020.

At launch, European subscribers will have access to Disney originals including The Mandalorian, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and The World According To Jeff Goldblum.

Subscribers will be able to access the platform on “nearly all major mobile and connected TV devices at launch,” according to the company, including gaming consoles, streaming media players and smart TVs.

The commercial-free service offers up to four concurrent streams, unlimited downloads on up to 10 devices, personalised recommendations, and the ability to set up to seven different profiles.

Disney Plus has proven popular in the US, with three-quarters of consumers ranking the product highly for satisfaction.
