OTT sports platform claims to deliver content faster than cable and satellite

Zingo TV employing technology to deliver live streams at sub-second latency

US sports OTT platform Zingo TV has announced a partnership with Streaming Global that it says will enable it to deliver live streams at sub-second latency, a delay that is 30-60 times faster than industry average.

According to Streaming Global its technology delivers streams directly to Cloud storage servers, eliminating the unnecessary parts of the conventional pipeline to allow the benefits of low delay, high scale delivery for live, linear, OTT and VoD streaming platforms.

It uses existing Cloud providers, such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS, and private/custom Clouds.

Streaming Global added that the industry average latency time for live sport can be up to 75 seconds.

Zingo TV co-founder, John Estiva, said: “We’re thrilled to bring in the Streaming Global technology as our delivery partner. With them, we’ll be able to provide our viewers with an even better experience and continue to focus on content.”
