Amazon Prime Video introduces Dolby Atmos support

Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan is the first Amazon Video Prime show to support the audio format

Dolby has revealed that Amazon will be adding Dolby Atmos support from the end of August.

Amazon Original Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan is scheduled to be the first Amazon Video Prime show to support the audio format when it debuts on the 31st August, according to a recent Forbes report.

Dolby Atmos immerses the viewer in the action with audio that moves around the room in three-dimensional space.

Amazon’s Fire TV and Fire TV Cube boxes will be able to output Dolby Atmos streams in time for Jack Ryan’s launch.

The Forbes report notes that the version of Atmos carried by Amazon Prime Video and other streaming platforms is not the lossless ‘True HD’ version achieved with Blu-rays and 4K Blu-rays.

No information has been released yet on which other Amazon titles might also get the Dolby Atmos treatment.
