PAY Studio – a prominent Warsaw-based post house – has upgraded its Quantel Pablo system with 4K, Stereo3D and the Neo panel. The updated system has already been put into action finishing Poland’s first major 3D movie, Battle of Warsaw.

The Pablo system has been an important part of PAY Studio’s technical configuration for several years now, during which time it has been deployed on commercials, TV series and movies.

PAY Studio’s Monika Jakutowicz commented: “Upgrading the system to 4K and Stereo3D operation means that we can carry out the highest quality digital intermediates and color correction for 2D movies. And it also enables us to break into the exciting new 3D movie business, as our work on Jerzy Hoffman’s Battle of Warsaw illustrates – we did the entire colour correction and Stereo3D post on the Pablo, as well as the titles.

“We looked at other options for stereoscopic work, but there is nothing to match the Pablo’s comprehensive S3D workflow. It’s got all the colour and other finishing tools we need in one room, a brilliant interface in the Neo panel and a good Stereo3D toolset that Quantel continues to develop. We wouldn’t have been able to complete Battle of Warsaw in the short timescale required without Pablo. The ability to grade the left and right eyes in parallel and the new stereo balancing and fixing tools were particularly useful.”
