Vizrt appoints TV2’s Johannes Skoog as first Viz Artist in Residence

Viz Artist in Residence programme celebrates and support artists producing media content with Vizrt graphic solutions

Vizrt has announced that designer Johannes Skoog is the winner of the inaugural Viz Artist in Residence competition.

The company introduced its Viz Artist in Residence programme in April 2021 to recognise, celebrate and support artists producing media content with Vizrt graphic solutions. More than 70 entries from around the world were submitted before seven finalists were chosen to create original virtual sets for their final round submissions to judges.

The Viz Artist in Residence judging panel featured Jonathan Spencer of BBC Wales and Fadi Radi of Al Arabiya, and Vizrt innovators including Gerhard Lang, CTO and Petter Ole Jakobsen, CIO at Vizrt Group.

Skoog’s winning design is described as “elegantly minimalistic” said Ole Jakobsen, CIO, Vizrt Group. “It allows for a number of different usages and is a very flexible design. The studio enables both anchor and virtual information elements to be the center of a production – as it should be.”

He will collaborate with Vizrt for one year, both creating broadcast graphics to test and showcase the company’s solutions and working with Vizrt’s R&D department to influence the future direction of the Viz Artist software.
