Software Generation Ltd (SGL) has made a key sale to Russian broadcaster VGTRK. The installation was carried out as part of the workflow integration between Avid’s Interplay media production and MAM system and SGL’s FlashNet archive, for an end-to-end tapeless solution.

“SGL and Avid have enjoyed a close working relationship for many years and we’re delighted to announce this sale as part of our integration with Interplay.,” commented Raj Patel, SGL’s product manager. “Our content storage management solutions are built around open system architecture designed to enable seamless integration of the archive with all other systems in a customer’s installation, regardless of their size, operations or workflows. This ensures that the archive appears as a transparent storage area available to every user in all departments from within their day-to-day applications.”

The workflow enables operators to send material directly to the SGL archive using Avid production tools, or to define automatic rules in the Avid Interplay system requesting material to be archived without any further interaction. Operators can also restore material directly using the Avid production tools or partially restore content such as short 10 or 20 second clips from any SGL archived material. Other features include faster access to the archive, simplified search functionality within the archive and off load online storage.
