Bahrain TV enhances MAM capabilities with Qvest

The programme to modernise and upgrade MAM facilities at Bahrain TV was designed and integrated with no service interruption

Qvest has revealed details of a collaboration with Bahrain TV, modernising the broadcaster’s archiving and management systems with the implementation of a new media workflow platform.

Aiming to drive “significant technical enhancements” for the broadcaster’s operator, Bahnrain’s Ministry of Information (MI), Qvest undertook the installation and integration of a range of technologies designed to provide scalability to meet evolving requirements.

Based on the Avid MediaCentral platform, the Avid Media Asset Management System provided a unified, web-based interface enabling access to media resources and production tools. Alongside customisable workflows and the latest technologies for media capture and transcoding, the MAM allows fast processing of large files.

The solution also controls a newly-installed Telestream Kumulate system, enabling the team to undertake tasks such as archiving and restoration of media resources.

Scalable media storage was provided by the installation of Avid NEXIS storage systems with 240 Terabytes per engine. Integration with Adobe Premiere Pro via MediaCentral Panel aims to facilitate seamless editing and media handling. Advanced search capabilities enable accelerated content retrieval while large media files can be efficiently handled, aiming to drive enhanced collaboration across teams. The system supports simultaneous access by multiple users.

The programme, including metadata migration and integration with existing systems, delivered a smooth transition without interrupting operations, Full Arabic language support for metadata fields ensures user-friendliness for local teams and meets local linguistic requirements.

Engr. Abdulla Ahmed Al Balooshi, assistant undersecretary of Technical Affairs Directorate, commented “The new media archive system has significantly improved our teams’ productivity and offers a state-of-the-art environment that promotes creativity and collaboration. The cooperation with Qvest and the partners went smoothly. Their expertise and innovative impulses were crucial in realising our vision of enhancing our broadcasting standards through the integration of advanced technological solutions.”

Philipp Glänzel, MD, Qvest MENA, added “Our goal was to create an exceptional working environment that reflects the core values and production standards of Bahrain TV while fostering a positive atmosphere among the staff. We are pleased with the trusted and successful partnership with the Ministry of Information on this special project.”
