United satellite trucks follow Tour de France bike race

United, part of the Euro Media Group (EMG), is supplying two satellite vehicles to Dutch broadcasters NOS and RTL for this year’s 99th Tour de France bike race.

United’s HOL-219 will be used for NOS’ De Avondetappe (‘The Evening Stage’), and the HOL-75 for RTL Viert de Zomer: Tour du Jour (‘RTL Celebrate the Summer: Tour du Jour’) on behalf of producer Infostrada Sports.

NOS has chosen, as in previous years, to use United HOL-219 for De Avondetappe. This vehicle has been used since 2006 to record this programme, and this year it is equipped with four cameras. From 30 June-22 July, the United convoy – comprising the United HOL-219, an equipment truck, a truck equipped with a generator, a truck equipped with lighting apparatus, two United ENG cars and three production cars – will follow the Tour to record Mart Smeets’ De Avondetappe. It will be broadcast every evening by NOS during the Tour.

United HOL-75 is also travelling along with the tour and will be used for reports from France for RTL Viert de Zomer: Tour du Jour, presented by Wilfred Genee.

Alongside many domestic productions, United was also present this summer at the European Championships in Poland and Ukraine, and will be present at the Olympic Games in London.
