Tektronix reveals smallest waveform monitor

At the NAB show, Tektronix Inc. introduced the new WFM5200 and WVR5200, the world’s smallest full-featured waveform monitor and rasteriser for content, creation, post production, and broadcast.

At the NAB show, Tektronix introduced the new WFM5200 and WVR5200, the world’s smallest full-featured waveform monitor and rasteriser for content, creation, post production, and broadcast. The WFM5200 and WVR 5200 products can monitor up to four 3G-SDI signals simultaneously, and are well suited for use in OB vans, studio control rooms, and post production houses doing editing, special effects, and colour correction. Tektronix says the products meet the growing trend towards “fit for purpose” products that can be integrated easily into an existing system architecture. “We often hear from production houses and broadcasters that they want Tektronix quality, 3G-SDI Performance, and to be able to choose and pay for only the features they need,” said Eben Jenkins, Tektronix general manager, video product line. “To meet this need, we’re unbundling the performance of our advanced waveform monitors and rasterisers and offering a wide range of software options that can be tailored to the user’s application.” Other features include closed captioning, subtitles, AFD decode/display, full ANC data support for quality control purposes, and a multi-rate colour bar and pathological signal generation for basic installation and maintenance applications.
