Sony adds Simple Live Streaming to 4K HDR camcorders

HXR-NX80 and PXW-Z90 let content creators shoot "wherever and however they want"

Sony has introduced additional workflow flexibility via a free firmware upgrade for its 4K HDR professional camcorders, HXR-NX80 and PXW-Z90.

As standalone operations, the camcorders only require Wi-Fi connection without additional gear. Simple Live Streaming allows users to conduct live streaming and upload onto major video sharing sites and social media platforms.

When a user needs to expand live streaming to multiple camcorder operation, the HXR-NX80 and PXW-Z90 camcorders can be connected to MCX-500 via SDI or HDMI.

The camcorders additionally offer users complete creative control via Sony’s Fast Hybrid AF system featuring 1.0-type stacked Exmor RS CMOS image sensor. The fixed 29mm wide-angle ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T lens are equipped with 12x optical zoom that can be increased to 18x with Clear Image Zoom, maintaining 4K resolution using Super Resolution Technology or 24x in HD.

On the audio front, the XLR audio input terminal and microphone holder further adds to its operability as well as sound quality and reliable connection.

“In today’s live environment, video content is evolving quickly as an essential tool to connect with audiences,” said Norbert Paquet, head of product management, Sony Professional Solutions. “The introduction of Simple Live Streaming for HXR-NX80 and PXW-Z90 streamlines the overall workflow, from shooting to live distribution.”
