Sohonet and ERA aim to make it easier for UK post facilities to scale

Any Sohonet-connected facility can deploy additional workstations and storage for upcoming projects over its already existing Sohonet Media Network connection

Sohonet has added UK-based hosted services provider ERA to its Sohonet Media Fabric.

As part of the agreement, ERA will incorporate Sohonet’s Multiport service, connecting its infrastructure directly to the Sohonet Media Network (SMN).

It means any Sohonet-connected facility can deploy additional workstations and storage for upcoming projects over its already existing Sohonet Media Network connection without the need for a new infrastructure build.

“Scaling a project shouldn’t mean rebuilding your network,” said Damien Carroll, COO of Sohonet. “Bringing ERA onto Media Fabric puts resources our customers need on a connection they already trust, so they can collaborate quickly and expand when they need to. That’s what Media Fabric is for: fast, flexible collaboration. ERA becomes another destination on Media Fabric, alongside the studios, post houses and cloud providers already connected.”

“London facilities want flexible infrastructure without the overhead of new connectivity,” added Sammy Aindow, sales manager, ERA. “Joining Sohonet Media Fabric means teams already on the Sohonet network can start using ERA’s workstations, storage and render straight away. We’re looking forward to working with Sohonet’s customers to see what we can build together.”
