BSkyB has agreed a five-year deal with Red Bee Media for subtitling services in the UK. Effective from July 2012, Red Bee Media will exclusively provide all live subtitling for six Sky channels – Sky News, Sky Sports News and Sky Sports 1-4 – and pre-recorded subtitling for a suite of Sky services including Sky 1, Sky Atlantic and Sky Living.
Bill Patrizio (pictured), CEO, Red Bee Media, commented: “This deal with BSkyB is a significant win for Red Bee Media and really demonstrates the quality of our subtitling services for both live TV and pre-recorded programming. Red Bee Media is a pioneer in the development of access services, and we continue to invest in and develop new technologies to enable us to maximise our clients’ content and grow with their business needs. Chris Whatmore, deputy head of Broadcast Operations, BSkyB, added: “We work hard to offer our customers a range of access services that help them get the most out of Sky, with subtitling forming an important part of that commitment. We’re pleased to be entering into this partnership with Red Bee Media, which will help us to continue to deliver a high quality subtitling service for all our customers in the UK and Ireland.”
