Spanish public broadcaster RTVE has installed DIVArchive CSM systems in 12 of its facilities to manage news, post production, and historical archives. RTVE has also installed a DIVAnet multisite content distribution system in each of its three main archive locations. The DIVAnet systems enable remote access so that the three main archives can serve as backup and disaster recovery centres for each other.
“DIVAnet greatly advances the security of our archives because we can store content redundantly in multiple locations and access it remotely, which protects us against disaster or local technical problems,” said Carlos Hernández Esteban, documentary fund manager at RTVE. “And because we were already working with Front Porch Digital and DIVArchive, the integration has been easy.”
RTVE uses DIVArchive in its main archive and production centres, two in Madrid and one in Barcelona, with regional supporting archives in nine other production centres around the country. The three main centres house short-term archives for news and post production, and long-term archives that contain all historical content for the entire RTVE network
Front Porch Digital’s digitisation and archive preservation project for NTV has landed the company a nomination for next week’s TVBAwards. Nominated for the Achievement in Legacy Content, Front Porch Digital is competing against Russia Television and Radio/FERC Sovtelexport, BFI National Archive/Deluxe Digital, and RRMedia, for the honour.
The award is one of 13 across four categories, which will be presented at the event next Thursday 23 October. Want to support talent in the broadcast industry?
