Pinewood ‘considering third London site’

Studio said to be looking at new Dagenham East development

Pinewood Studios is reportedly looking to buy 20 acres of land in Dagenham in order to keep up with demand for UK production facilities.

According to the Guardian, the Dagenham complex would become Pinewood’s third London site.

It says Pinewood has inquired about developing and running the new 18.7-acre site in Rainham Road South, Dagenham.

Paul Golding, chairman of Pinewood, said the studio was looking ahead to its next growth phase. “We have sufficient expansion ability to meet demand for the next three to five years. But we have already identified future expansion opportunities.”

Pinewood is currently able to film two blockbusters at a time at its facility in Iver and one at the Shepperton complex. It is midway through a £200 million expansion to double its size to keep pace with demand.
